in search of a stylish ipad cover

Designer Diane Von Furstenberg recently released a line of chic Kindle covers inspired by the designer's iconic and signature prints. I do love the leopard print - but not enough to buy a Kindle. I have my sights set on something far better - the iPad, which I will receive for my August birthday. Now that I've seen DVF's cute covers - I'm thinking about how I will dress my iPad. The pickings are slim. I've Googled - and found loads of neoprene and other utilitarian designs. Utilitarian is not my style. I also found this cover by CrystalRoc with 5000 individual Swarovski crystals. A bit too bling for my taste. In the case of the iPad, designers have not yet stepped up the plate. Stella, Diane, Karl, Phoebe - where are you?

pineapple seed: luxury meet simplicity

A couple of years ago I bought an elegant bangle at the Union Street Fair in San Francisco.  I was drawn to the substance of it, the weight of it and how comfortable it felt on my arm. I'm very particular about my jewelry. I only like pieces that I can wear everyday and represent a moment in my life. My wedding band is an obvious example, but I also cherish the wooden prayer beads with a diamond angel charm my husband gave me after the arrival of our first daughter and the charm bracelet that reads "Bonheur" (translation: happiness) that I bought in Paris days after a family member died and I was not feeling it at all.  I bought this bracelet when we were in the process of adopting our second daughter. It has an inscription in Thai: persevere over any obstacle. She came home shortly thereafter. I love this peice and wear it everyday.  The entire collection is simple, elegant and beautiful. Taylor Tomasi Hill is having a fashion moment online. The style and accessories editor for Marie Claire is suddenly everywhere in the blogosphere. I love how she transitions between feminine and tough looks and how her unique style is hard to bucket into any particular category. Except for maybe killer shoes. The Norma Kamali  cat-eye shades are so me -- on my list for this summer!  This looks were pulled from a blog I love, The Fashion Smoothie, who pulled them from a variety of sources.

the world's most expensive phone

The iPhone 3GS Supreme Rose is the world's most expensive phone at £1.93 million. The bezel is handmade from platinum with 130 individual .75 flawless diamonds which total 97.5ct. It also features four pink baguette diamonds each weighing 2.5cts and a 18ct rose gold backing with an Apple logo made up of 53 diamonds. You know you want it. (via)

designer spotlight: rebecca minkoff

Designer Rebecca Minkoff is having a moment. She's not new on the style scene by any means, her handbags are sold at Neiman Marcus, Shopbop and hundreds of boutiques nationwide. Recently, they've been spotted on the arms of stylish trendsetters like model Agyness Deyn, Rachel Bilson and Sarah Jessica Parker. The celebrity endorsement is only part of her recent elevated visibility. People just don't want to pay a lot for bags anymore - but they still want quality. Myself included. I love this collection. I especially love the clutches (I recently purchased a studded version). Like many of Minkoff's bags, it features removable straps and can be worn multiple ways. The tie dye bag is on my wish list for spring!
