on my radar: motorcycle boots

Vertical_pic Every woman needs a pair of tough, flat boots in her closet. They go with everything - from jeans to dresses and can be worn year round. If you make an investment in a good pair they will only look better as they get beaten up with age. At first glance, I was not crazy about these Miu Miu boots because I thought there were to bling-y to wear all the time. However, I changed my mind when I realized you can remove the buckle harness for occasions you would rather sport a classic riding boot. How practical! At Miu Miu. Photo source: Style.com.

no monogramouflage for me

Monogramouflage-lv-takashi-murakami The new Monogramouflage from Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami hit stores on July 1st, while I was at the beach and not thinking about designer goods (or at least did not have access to shopping for them anyway). Although I am not a fan of logos, I love camouflage and wanted to get my hands on a stoll. But no, according to a company representative they were sold out before they even hit the floors. There is also a waiting list which I am sure is miles long although the rep would not disclose numbers.

is there such thing as original design?

Zucca_chaussures1-thumb-600x403Sd0359_ic The first picture is from Life in Occupied Paris (the daily lives of Parisians during World War II) -  an exhibit at the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris (through July 1st). The image to the left is Henry Beguelin's most popular shoe of the season. Original?

found! the perfect summer bag

Mulberry_largejodyshoulderbag Ihad two bags on my spring/summer shopping list - a bright everyday bag and an oversize clutch.I found both in the Mulberry Jody bag. I'm a huge fan of Mulberry's timeless designs - they are at once understated and edgy. They are also designed and manufactured in the UK, not China, another rarity in the design world. The Jody bag functions as three bags - a tote, a shoulder bag when folded over and an oversize clutch when the straps are removed. I love it in Seville - a tomato-red color.

charlize theron in dior

1Cd_11857499_black_h_pu Charlize Theron looked beautiful at Dior's cruise collection showing on Monday night. I love love love this dress. Although I would swap the yellow shoes for these gladiator platforms. These shoes are featured heavily in the upcoming Sex In The City Movie - and since I am a fool for both gladiators and platforms, not buying them has been a serious exercise in restraint. but will they stand in line for it?

Im_not_a_douche_bag_bagWhen I came across this bag today - I laughed out loud. It is just the right anecdote to the over saturation of green fashion discussions that  take place between March and April. Fashion Indie's  "I'm Not a Douche Bag" tote is available  at  Cafe Press.

jil sander reverse heel sandals

Cimg0112 I'm hardly one to pontificate on unpractical footwear - but these "reverse heel" Jil Sander shoes are ridiculous. They are unwearable and  destined for the sales rack. I took this picture at Barneys in San Francisco.

speaking of gladiator flats

Bgx06g7_mn Gladiator flats were the most prominent shoe in Paris boutiques and on the streets of Saint-Tropez. They are the key shoe for the season. I like this Prada pair because it will work equally well with a sun dress or denim shorts. And while I love the traditional gladiator above-the-ankle strap, this style is much more flattering because it does not cut the line of the leg. At Bergdorf Goodman.

virtual shoe show

Adem_homeI came across this site while monitoring my daily fashion reads this morning: The Virtual Shoe Museum. According to the site the perspective focuses on designs that question the very essence of the shoe: ‘Is this a shoe?’, ‘Is this wearable?’ ‘Does it matter?’  All good questions indeed.
