louboutin opens in west LA, film short sets the stage

Christian Louboutin created a short homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” to celebrate the opening of his West Hollywood flagship store this week. “Psychologic” stars Louboutin’s goddaughter Elisa Sedanaoui, who meets her fate in the shower, by way of a piercing stiletto, and finds (shoe) Heaven. 49 reasons why I love you

Rex May's icon 49 Mile Drive sign, which debuted at the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition, has been a source of inspiration and whimsy for San Francisco artist Annie Galvin since she arrived in this city from Ireland over 20 years ago. 49 Reasons Why I Love You, which opened at Zinc Details (one of San Francisco's best modern design stores) in San Francisco February 5, is Annie's valentine to San Francisco. The show features forty-nine new, original paintings inspired by the sign, hung in a 7x7 grid, providing an intriguing visual metaphor for San Francisco's geography. charlotte gainsbourg's melodic IRM

The very thought of an MRI makes my heart palpitate. The thumping, thumping sounds the machine produces - they send shivers up my spine. There is certainly no beauty in the experience. Unless you are Charlotte Gainsbourg. The title track of IRM, the artist's new collaboration with Beck, is based on her many trips to the hospital for MRI scans (IRM in French) after she suffered a brain hemorrhage in a water-skiing accident. Gainsbourg incorporates the noise and heartbeat rhythm of the scanner into the title track creating a melody that is both sultry and a bit scary. "Heaven Can Wait" is getting the most play now. Girl2Watch, a website and email newsletter that profiles Hollywood's hottest up and coming female talent, features musician Alex Young this week. Spotted at the spring shows in New York, Alex is getting noticed for her style as well as her songs. She recently signed on as the spokesperson for White Diamonds International, a company that supports fair and conflict-free diamond mining. In honor of female musician as fashion muse, Girl2Watch lists 15 female musicians who became fashion icons: Madonna, Lady Gaga, Cher, Debbie Harry, Marianne Faithful, Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper, Gwen Stefani, Courtney Love, Janie Joplin, Victoria Beckham. oksana grigorieva's angel to benefit CCPI

Oksana Grigorieva, Russian/Ukrainian singer and Mel Gibson baby mama, has filmed a video designed to raise awareness for Chernobyl Children's Project International (CCPI), the organization that helps children in Belarus and Ukraine who still suffer horrific consequences from the 1986 disaster. My sister is director of the non-profit organization. Oksana is donating proceeds from her single "Angel" to help these children and their families. You can download the single on iTunes. Today in Ukraine, 6000 children are born with genetic cardiac disease (as documented in Academy Award Winning Chernobyl Heart), and only half will get the surgery they need to survive. The others will die. CCPI sends volunteer cardiac surgery teams to Ukraine and Belarus to perform free operations and train doctors to help them in the region. You can view the video here.
