Unlike many people, I actually look forward to a rainy day now and then. The reason is that I love to wear my Burberry trench and Hunter wellies. These two items of clothing were created to endure the most blustery of days and have stood the test of time against the elements. I figured these classics can withstand the rainy season in the Scottish Highlands then they would be durable for rainy days in California. I love the element of utility for these staples of my wardrobe. Because looking arriving well dressed is and prepared is half the battle of any occasion.

Yes, the trench is a wardrobe essential everyone should own. But if you’re looking for something more extravagant check out these luxe, quirky, studded shiny and even black-tie worthy trench coats if you are so inspired to upgrade from your classic Burberry raincoat. If you’re stepping out for a formal evening or just want to make a grand entrance this Beaded Trench Coat (Upper left, $889 at NeimanMarcus.com) is perfect. The 3/4 sleeves, tie waist and full skirt make it the perfect cover up for your best LBD. Roberto Cavalli is known for over the top detailing and this Studded wool trench coat, (Upper right. $3,195 at Net-a-Porter) is no exception. The off white wool trench is embellished with burnished metal studs and features a tie waist, oversized lapels and slit side pockets. If you love the classic detailing of Burberry but want to take your trench to the outer limits, this may be your dream coat. Rick Owens designs furniture - who knew? He's showing his collection, “Evolution,” at Sebastian + Barquet’s gallery in London until the end of this month. The show features Owens’ large wooden chairs, lamps and tables with antlers. The limited edition pieces are for sale, with prices that range from $2,970, for a wooden bench to $36,300, for a suede and wood sofa.

new breast cancer ad uses "male lechery" for good

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and "Save the Boobs," a new public service announcement from the Rethink Breast Cancer charity, taps into the same secret sauce successfully used by many beer, sports and music marketers: babes and boobs. The PSA features a busty young women walking into a pool party scene in a tiny white bikini to the soundtrack of sexy music. Throughout the camera stares, sometimes in slow motion, at the woman's massive assets. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in young women ages 25 to 49," says the text. I think its safe to assume male viewers stuck around long enough to get that message - success! The LA Times says this ad represents one of the few occasions when the male tendency to objectify the female body is put to good use. What do you think? Check out the video above or here.
