MyIrish-catholic relatives who hail from the north will disagree - but I found a silver lining to the British occupation in this part of the world - Boots, Cadbury and Topshop. Today I indulged in all three. My sister and I traveled an hour from Newcastle to Belfast on the Ulster Rural Rover to visit the flagship Topshop store in Victoria Square. Opened in March, Victoria Square is reportedly the most expensive shopping center ever to be built in Ireland and is expected to draw 17 million shoppers each year making it one of the UK's top shopping destinations. Stores include House of Fraser, Edun, All Saints and Urban Outfitters. The Urban Outfitters was nothing like the U.S. and was filled with designers like Vanessa Bruno, Paul & Joe Sister, Manoush and APC. We hit Boots first where I picked up this cute travel bag by London illustrator Daisy de Villeneuve and a Boots No.7 lip liner in Nude (the perfect shade of nude). Next stop was Topshop. Sadly, the Victoria Square store is not yet open but we found another location down the street. My sister picked up the cute pansy print ruffle-front wrap dress by Kate Moss featured in all the ads. I bought a pair of black stovepipe jeans - I love Topshop jeans - you can't beat the fit, the styles and the prices. Finally, I picked up four giant Cadbury Dairy Milk and Fruit & Nuts bars to take home. A great day!
